About

Hello,

Welcome to my site! My name is Ursula Durkalec. I love capturing precious memories of mother's awaiting the birth of their child, newborn babies, children as they grow into High School Seniors and families as they change. I offer in-studio and outdoor photography. I am thrilled to be awarded the certificate of Top Newborn Photographers in Toledo by Expertise.com for 3 years in a row now!

One of the things I love most about photography is knowing that the images I create will be treasured for generations to come.  My goal is to make my customers feel comfortable in front of the camera and have fun during the photo session. My reviews on Google and Facebook prove the high level of customer satisfaction I have been able to provide. (over 95 Five Star Reviews on Google and additional 30 five star reviews on Facebook)

My desire and love in working with expecting mothers and newborns comes from my deep appreciation of what a miracle it is to be able to carry a baby to full term and give birth to a tiny little baby. Having gone through many years of fertility treatments and miscarriages myself, to finally get to the point of having that little precious bundle of joy (after 6 years of trying) was one of my most profound experiences. I feel truly blessed to have two kids of my own, and as my kids get older... I find that I value more and more the images of them as babies and the toddler years.

I love working with children… as a mother of 2, I have some tricks ‘up my sleeve’.. to get those smiley faces.. I bring along my pirate’s treasure and trade it for smiles! Musical toys to entertain those run away two year olds, and at times, yes I run around with those little toddlers to best capture them at that stage of their life. For family sessions I do a combination of posed images and images of the family playing, running and laughing together. I have had kids wanting to give me hugs and wanting to stay with me by end of the photo session!

I went from being a Career Counselor for over 10 years, to a stay at home mom and now a photographer. I started Ursula Durkalec Photography in the spring of 2017. I have taken in class and on-line courses in photography. I am registered with Professional Photographers of America and Clickin Mom’s. I am honored to have been awarded as Toledo’s Best Newborn Photographer for three years in a row! I have also taken part in the Newborn Retreat by The Milky Way for the past 6 years in a row; learning from top leaders in the Newborn Photography industry. I have invested into top full frame DSLR cameras, lenses, lights, editing software/computers, props and gear…. and continually add to my gear and props to be able to offer a variety to my clients. What makes my maternity sessions stand out is that I offer a large selection of maternity gowns for my clients to choose from.  I am continually learning and seeking to improve what I can offer to my clients. So far it has been a truly rewarding experience.

My most important role is being a mom to my two kids who are now 12 and  15 years old. Since my children were babies I have enjoyed taking many snapshots of them, myself and by professional photographers. Children grow and change so fast.. preserving those memories digitally and in print is priceless.

As my own kids start to get into those teenage years, I can relate to the high school seniors.

I love that what I create today, will be treasured for years to come and it’s one of those things that gain so much more value as the years go by.
